Candidates will be responsible for supporting a wide variety of electrical systems and
equipment for 688 Class Moored Training Ship (MTS), and OHIO Replacement. Candidates will
have an opportunity to support two new high visibility programs, one to convert two existing
688 Class submarines into MTSs and one to design the OHIO Replacement Class. Candidate
will be responsible to develop/review functional requirements documents, system descriptions,
equipment procurement specifications, and system drawing development, and to support 3D
design for electrical systems and equipment for propulsion plant components, ship systems
components, reactor plant instrumentation and control systems, steam and electric plant
systems and components, and power system applications.
Duties associated with the programs supported by D429 include, but are not limited to:
Receive, evaluate and disposition system and component related questions, trouble calls and
liaison inquiries from the EB construction shipyard, Naval shipyards, nuclear prime contractors
and NAVSEA; Provide engineering input for creation and revision of technical documents such
as technical manuals, ship system and component drawings, operating instructions, component
repair parts documentation, preventive maintenance, etc. Candidates working in the group will
be required to fulfill the responsibilities of a project engineer overseeing all aspects of the
development of complex tasks. This would include maintaining budgets and schedules,
interfacing with design, other engineering organizations, and multiple customers, and technical
review and oversight of all products produced for the assigned tasks. Some travel required.
BSEE or equivalent degree required.
