Job Description

Leveraging the latest state-of-the-art technologies, the Ship Control Software Engineering Group (D448) is responsible for developing and maintaining the tactical software for VIRGINIA and SSBN/SSGN Ship Control Systems. As the Software Build Manager (SBM), the candidate is responsible for ensuring that the tactical software is developed in accordance with established guidelines and procedures to maintain the highest degree of quality to support the Fly-By-Wire (FBW) special emphasis program.

 

Specifically, the SBM certifies that the requirements for the tactical software are properly allocated, that peer review comments are appropriately adjudicated, and that unit testing is successfully completed. The SBM coordinates and integrates the Computer Software Configuration Items (CSCI) that comprise the baseline release and generates the tactical delivery to Configuration Management (CM). The SBM accomplishes this effort by managing the change requests in the IBM Change Management Tool as well as projects and tasks in the IBM Synergy database. To support this effort, the candidate must also develop and maintain scripts to automate the process steps to increase efficiency.

Education/ Experience

A Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or equivalent technical degree is required.

 

One or more years of experience in relevant aspects of the position is preferred.  Experience in configuration management, quality assurance, and software development is desired. Knowledge of FBW and IBM tools is also beneficial.

Candidate must possess strong interpersonal, organizational, communication, and writing skills. Candidate must be highly motivated and perform independently with minimal guidance. Candidate must be detail oriented as well as possess the ability to effectively collaborate with coworkers and organizations in an engineering environment.
